ELLA Designs Jewelry began when my daughter Lauren and I had a vision to create a business where we could make beautiful jewelry while raising awareness and money for bipolar research. The company was created for the purpose of donating 100% of all proceeds to the Prechter Bipolar Research Fund in memory of my son and Lauren’s brother, Michael who passed away in 2009 at the age of 17.
Since its inception, Ella Designs has had tremendous response to the unique and versatile jewelry pieces. We are always adding more earrings, necklaces, and bracelets and continue to add to our full product line everyday.
We are proud to report that of the close of 2022, we have donated a total of $343,000 over 10 years.
Examples how donated funds are being used in this incredible research to find a cure for Bipolar Disorder:
Stem Cell Research
Research using stem cell lines specific to bipolar disorder is being used to measure differences in brain cell formation between people with the disease and people without. This provides significant clues to the biological basis of bipolar disorder and helping to find new treatments for this devastating disease.
The ability to customize treatment to the individual is another benefit to stem cell research which saves critical time finding medications which are effective for the individual and helps reduce timely trial and error of finding the right medication.
“Hearing” bipolar disorder with smart phones
Researchers have developed a groundbreaking app to potentially stave off full blown manic episodes. The app detects pattern changes in speaking voice and cadence in order to catch early warning mood modulations. The hope is that predicting mood changes with significant time to intervene will go a long way.
Thank you all of you for your support and for helping to make 2022 a great tenth year for ELLA Designs Jewelry.
